A fantastic performance by all concerned as the ladies improved on last weeks performance by winning two individual medals and the team gold!!
Michelle Waters(1st), Michelle Lambkin(2nd), and Nicola Byrne brought home the goods. Well done to all. Well done again to Una Britton who took silver in the U-19 race.
Congrats also goes to the mens team who finished a strong third-Peter Savage, Ian O Donnell, Mark Walsh and Richard Jones picked up the medals. There was strong support from the rest of the guys-Keith Sommers, John Doyle, Pat Mullen, Joe Balfe, Keith Lacey, Mick Mccann, Eoin Kelly, Nicholas Breen and Aggie Waters.
Well done again to Charlie,Ruth, Sarah and the Meagher family who flew the flag for the club in the underage races
It was geat to see so many KAC team members in green and gold on the course last Sunday,
this by all accounts is the toughest course in Ireland. Well done to the ladies team, Una Britton,
Mary Britton, Louise Gough and Jessica Nevin who powered through the field to take a silver medal
in the Novice County Cross Country Championship. Not forgetting the Ladies Captain, Michelle Lambkin,
who assisted them during the race. It was a pleasure to watch the race from the
front with the two sisters running so well and also Jessica and Louise (she even
managed to lose one of her spikes, stopped, put it back on and passed another runner coming into the
run up for the line!!!)Jessica only started coming down to the club a couple of weeks ago and hey presto a medal...she like Louise overtook
many athletes on the course, showing them that she meant business on the day.
Una took second place in the individual competition with a storming finish, with Mary just finishing outside the medals in fourth position. Well done again to a
Great Ladies Team.
The Men's race contained one of the biggest Novice cross country field that I have seen in years, Kilcoole put on a
great showing with 13 brave soldiers who managed to climb a mountain, yes jamie that mountain at the opposite side
of the course not once, not twice, but three times... Our team consisted of Dave Barry, who was our first man home in
the top twenty, followed closely behind by Tom Kelly, Keith Lacey, Joe Balfe, Michael McCann, Keith Somers, Seamus
Waters, John Doyle, Pat Mullen, Nicholas Breen, Garry Molloy, Jamie Bray, not forgetting Richard Jones who had to pull out due
to stomach cramps.Iit was a pleasure as a coach to see the team and the individuals put in such a gallant effort against
one of the toughest courses in the land. Well done to all who participated. Congratulations to Aggy who managed to better
his time on last year by over 6 minutes.
There were 6 kids who competed-Charlie Breen,Ruth O Toole, Hannah Brogan,Amy Aoife and Emily Meagher. There was excellent runs by all, who did themselves and their coach, Louie proud.
Thanks to John May, who managed to find time in his busy schedule to support the club, Jamies wife Jennifer who took
photographs on the day. Thanks also to Mens Captain Peter Savage and the Ladies Captain Michelle Lambkin, the Britton family and everybody else who supported the club runners on the day.
A special word must go to Eamonn and Louie for all their hard work in getting everyone to this stage, and for their encouragement throughout the races
